If your Alta X has been involved in an accident, you should contact Freefly about potential repairs. If your GRYFN sensor package was on the UAV at the time, please contact support@gryfn.io for potential repairs.
You can sign up for up-to-date notifications on released service bulletins for the Alta X at the link below.
Yes, different brands and capacity sizes of batteries can be used with the Alta X so long as they have the same connector and meet the power output required for the Alta X. GRYFN has not tested other batteries, so purchasing other kinds of batteries is at your own risk.
When you would need to replace your batteries is dependent on how you have used your batteries. If they have often been exposed to extreme temperatures this means they will degrade faster. In normal operating conditions you will likely begin to notice some degradation of battery performance after 50 cycles on a battery set. After 50 cycles degradation will continue to compound. Your specific operating needs will determine how much degradation is unacceptable.
Yes, both batteries must be connected to the Alta X in order to fly it. The UAV will turn on with only one battery connected, however this is just so you can perform any sort of firmware or software maintenance without the UAV posing a danger.
A) Try using different USB ports on the field laptop.
B) Power cycle the aircraft
C) Power cycle the laptop
D) Try using a different USB-C cable
E) If none of the above options work to connect the field laptop to the aircraft:
Unplug both batteries from the Alta X.
Unplug the USB-C cable from the Alta X, leaving it plugged into the laptop.
Simultaneously connect the USB-C cable to the Alta X and one of the batteries to the Alta X.
Check QGroundControl on the field laptop to see if connection has been achieved.
If connection has been achieved, plug the second battery into the aircraft.
If connection is still not achieved, attempt the previous steps in part E again.
