POSPac UAV is a post-processing software from Applanix meant for airborne vehicle applications. Using CORS reference stations and user rover/base data it can generate a survey-grade smoothed best estimate of trajectory at high frequency for use in many external applications. This page outlines the basic POSPac workflow with UAV-based trajectory data utilizing the Applanix SmartBase virtual reference station module and SingleBase processing modes.
Open POSPac UAV
Click New Default Project
Click Import
Browse for and select APX files from a single flight
Occasionally, a T04 Base Data file will be recognized in POSPac if the system sat on the ground for extended time before flight operations. This file does not need to be selected when importing data
Click OK
Click Import
Ephemeris Data will download, this window will close when complete
Visualize and confirm trajectory matches the in-field operations. You can zoom in and out to the trajectory with the mouse wheel, and pan around the trajectory by holding the right mouse button.
Click Find Base Stations
Click Smart Select
Click Smart Base*
If UAS operations are within 30km of nearest CORS network station, Smart Select -> Single Base can be used instead.
Find Base Stations window will download and import data
If SmartBase was used, this window will close automatically when finished
If SingleBase was used, manually click the Close button after the data has been downloaded and imported
Click Smart Base Quality Check*
If using SingleBase, this step is down automatically after the Find Base Stations window is closed
Smart Base Quality Check results summary will be displayed when finished
In some instances, you may be prompeted to Re-run the SmartBase Quality Check Processor
Click Run the Applanix SmartBase processor
SmartBase Processor will run
When complete, GNSS QC Statistics will display
Click OK
Click GNSS-Inertial Processor
When GNSS-Inertial Processing is complete, a positional accuracy will be displayed
Click the Tools tab
Click Export
If desired, change the output directory
Choose the desired export format
Click Export
Finally, save the project file
Save Project As...
Save to the same directory as the export file
